Inviting foster parents to attend N.C. Children's Services Conference

Set March 4-6, 2002 aside to attend Everyday Heroes: Climbing to New Heights, a conference for everyone involved with family preservation, family support, child protection, foster care, and adoption services in North Carolina. Sponsored by the N.C. Division of Social Services Children's Services Section, the N.C. Foster Parent Association, and the N.C. Association of Directors of County Departments of Social Services, this event will be held at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina.

The conference will offer exciting keynote presentations and more than 50 workshops. Every workshop session will contain a special track for parents. Workshops will address topics such as enhancing your communication with schools, survival skills for parents, taking care of yourself, how to succeed in difficult conversations, helping children succeed in schools, respite care, beyond lifebook, and more.

In addition, there are up to 35 scholarships available for foster parents interested in attending the conference. These scholarships, which are available only to members of the N.C. Foster Parent Association, will cover hotel and mileage costs associated with conference attendance.

A conference registration brochure will be mailed out to members of the N.C. Foster Parent Association in December 2001.
